Alan Sockloff: Photographer
Tohickon Creek Gallery I
While I have never completely understood my fascination
with water, I do find myself constantly drawn to
photographing it. Water is the source - it is basic and
it is essential. While it can be soft and soothing, it
can also be dynamic and powerful. In creeks and streams,
depending on not only the obstacles in its path, but also
its volume, the flow can take on the kind of random forms
I've been seeking in nature.
Tohickon Creek, in Bucks County, Pennsylvania, runs from
Lake Nockamixon to the Delaware River. It is easily
accessible for photography near the Stover-Myers Mill, at
Ralph Stover and High Rocks State Parks, and at Tohickon
Valley County Park. This creek is an ideal vehicle for
my fascination with both water and the randomness of
nature.
