    Technical Info

Over 95% of these photographs were made using a 4 x 5 view camera, with lens focal lengths ranging from 58 mm to 305 mm. A small percentage were made using the square format (cropped when printed) of a medium format camera, with focal lengths ranging from 50 mm. to 150 mm.

The sheet and roll film used for the large majority of the photographs was T-Max 100, although I have on occasion also used either Tri-X or T-Max 400. All of the film for the images shown in the galleries of this website had been developed using D-76, although more recently I have started to use T-Max RS.

The prints have been made on a variety of papers, all of which are glossy graded fiber-based papers that are considered neutral or cold tone. Scrap pictures are printed on Cachet Expo G, while most of the others are printed either on Calumet Brilliant Bromide (or Luminos Graded Classic), Galerie, or Oriental Seagull. In all cases, prints have been developed in either Dektol or Selectol Soft or some combination of these, with selenium toning done on papers that can tolerate it without significant change in color.
